Non-stop athlete

SHE may no longer be an international rower but Debbie Flood is as hard-working as ever.

I discovered this when I bumped into her in Henley while she was out walking her dog Charlie early one morning recently.

The double silver Olympian, who retired from rowing after this year’s royal regatta, is now working and studying part-time.

She is working for Christians in Sport, which she says gave her “a lot of support” during her sporting career, and studying for a counselling degree with a distance learning course.

Like rowing, “it is a lot of hard work,” says Debbie.



It came as no surprise to learn what she was listening to on her iPod while out walking — a university lecture! Good luck, Debbie.
