AT 40ft tall, Henley’s Christmas tree could perhaps be forgiven for developing a slight lean.

However, after reports that the tree was wonky almost immediately after being installed in Market Place on Monday, Henley Town Council was quick to straighten it using a crane.

Perhaps it was the change in species that caused the problem — the tree this year is a Sitka spruce rather than the usual Norway spruce.

According to the Forestry Commission, the Sitka grows quickly so perhaps the lean was caused by a sudden spurt!
