JANUARY was a mild and wet month.

Temperatures were a degree above the average with a mean maximum of 8.5C and there were just 11 frosts.

Rainfall was around 100mm (four inches), rather more than the average for January of 70mm.

This compares with the lowest January total of 10mm in 1987 and the highest of 167mm in 2014.
