Feelgood music of jazz quartet at pub

JAZZ singer-songwriter Rebecca Poole, alias Purdy, will be bringing her quartet to the Crooked Billet in Newlands Lane, Stoke Row, next month.

Accompanied by Pete Billington (keys), Raph Mizraki (bass) and Matt Skelton (drums), the performer will be singing romantic ballads, feelgood swing, Americana and moody blues.

As well as supporting Lana Del Rey on Necker Island and singing with Jamie Cullum at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Rebecca has supported Jools Holland on one of his UK tours. She sang Can’t Keep My Eyes Off You in the Netflix television series The Crown.

Her latest album, Dreamers Ball, was the record of the week on BBC Sounds and her music has nuances of Nina Simone, Nancy Sinatra, Peggy Lee and Henry Mancini.

Tickets for the gig, on Tuesday, September 9, cost £30 as part of a music cover charge.
