Sounds of jazz with gin on boating trips

NETTLEBED singer-songwriter Rebecca Poole, alias Purdy, will be serenading passengers on gin and jazz cruises aboard Hobbs of Henley’s vessel The New Orleans later this month.

The two, three-hour-long cruises, arranged for Fridays, August 22 and 29 from 7.30pm to 10.30pm, include some Mr Hobbs G&T on arrival, a buffet menu and music from Purdy and her band.

Rebecca Poole has supported Jools Holland on a UK tour with shows at the Royal Albert Hall and has sung with Jamie Cullum at Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

Her latest album, Dreamers Ball, was record of the week on BBC Sounds, Jazz FM and Smooth Jazz.

Her style has been described as having nuances of Nina Simone, Nancy Sinatra, Peggy Lee and Henry Mancini.

Tickets cost £59 and there is a fully stocked cash bar onboard. For more information, visit hobbsofhenley.com
