READERS who know Rotherfield Greys must have noticed the curious and humorous roadside signs such as “Best muck”, “Look no further” and see an illustration of a cow (front and rear) to draw attention to the source!

This off-grid farm features an orchard planted by Iraj Poostchi, created from a strip of pasture land with his daughter Pooneh.

There’s always something interesting here. An information sign is currently displayed on a descendant of the world’s first apple tree, Malus Khazagorum, from the mountainous region of Kazakhstan, said to date from about 5,000 years ago. The example here was evidently planted by “Listening to the Land” pilgrims on their journey to COP23 in 2021.
