Man dies after being hit by bin lorry

A PEDESTRIAN has died after being hit by a bin lorry.

The man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital following the crash on the A4074 in Benson at about 12:10pm on Monday last week and has since died.

Thames Valley Police has appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area, around the time of the collision, to come forward.

South Oxfordshire District Council said its waste contractor was assisting with inquiries.

In a statement, it said: "We are extremely saddened to hear this news and our sincerest sympathies and condolences are with the man's family and friends.

"We're in contact with colleagues at our waste contractor who are doing everything they can to assist with the relevant inquiries."
