Plans for new court

PLANS for a temporary padel tennis court have been submitted by Wargrave Tennis Club.

It has asked Wokingham Borough Council, the planning authority, for permission to create it on an existing court in Recreation Road from April.

It would measure 20m by 13m, requires no foundations but would have low-level LED lighting. It could also be removed if required.

The plans follow a survey led by the club where nearly 70 per cent of members supported its creation.

Padel tennis is a short-court tennis format, played on a smaller court enclosed with walls and combines elements of squash, tennis and badminton.

A decision is expected by the borough council on Wednesday.
