Watch ferrets race along an obstacle course and then meet them too

THE exciting and increasingly popular sport of ferret racing will be on show, courtesy of the Hants and Berks Ferret Club.

The ferrets are inserted into race pipes and the first one to emerge at the end of the course with all four feet visible is the winner.

The animals have an obstacle course they have to negotiate, including a weave, see-saw, water jump and turning circle while spectators cheer them along.

The ferrets are friendly and in between races spectators can meet them and ask their owners questions.

There will be a PA system and a team of volunteers on hand with the ferrets to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The Hants and Berks Ferret Club is made up of enthusiasts.

Members say their main aim is to promote the welfare of working, domestic and rescued ferrets.

They attend summer fetes, fairs and country shows to familiarise the public with ferrets and how to care for them.

They have previously visited the Royal County of Berkshire Show, formerly known as the Newbury Show.
