Slightly warmer

IT was a typical October month for weather with temperatures only half a degree above the seasonal average.

With more cloud cover, the nights were slightly warmer and the days slightly cooler. The highest and lowest readings were, respectively, 21C and 1C , so no air frosts.

Reading University recorded more than 70 hours of sunshine but, with the 65mm of rain in Shiplake — less than the average of 75mm — the grass seems to keep growing. Dahlias are still in flower but not exactly up to exhibition standard!

My thanks, as always, to Denis Gilbert, from Shiplake, for the statistics.
