THE thorny issues of generation gaps, fraught relationships and his-word-against-hers disputes arise in After the Hunt (15), written by Nora Garrett and directed by Luca Guadagnino, out at the Regal Picturehouse in Henley today (Friday).
Julia Roberts is Yale University professor Alma Imhoff, who is used to having adoring fans among her students. When promising undergraduate Maggie (Ayo Edebiri) levels accusations at her colleague, Hank (Andrew Garfield), who retorts that Maggie is guilty of plagiarism, Imhoff has to figure out what’s going on.
Her psychoanalyst husband, Frederik (Michael Stuhlbarg), is at turns supportive and yet taunting of her relationship with Hank, who has a tendency to flirt. She has to figure out the battle lines…
The cast also includes Chloë Sevigny, Thaddea Graham, David Leiber, Lio Mehiel and Will Price and the film has a running time of two hours and 19 minutes.
Dreamworks Animation has worked its wonders with Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie (U), out now for the kids. Gabby (Laila Lockhart Kraner) goes on a road trip with her Grandma Gigi (Gloria Estefan), to visit “Cat Francisco”. However, her dollhouse gets into the hands of Vera (Kristen Wiig), a scary cat lady.
Gabby has to urgently reunite Pandy Paws, Cat Rat, Cakey, DJ Catnip, Baby Box, MerCat and her other friends to avert disaster. Will she make herself tiny in time or will it be a cat-astrophe?
Joining in are voices Jason Mantzoukas, Logan Bailey, Juliet Donenfeld, Secunda Wood, Donovan Patton, Eduardo Franco, Maggie Lowe, Tara Strong, Sainty Nelsen, Carla Tassara, Fortune Feimser, Thomas Lennon, Melissa Villaseñor, Ego Nwodim, Kyle Mooney and Matty Matheson. The film has a running time of one hour and 38 minutes.
