A PRESENTER at BBC Radio Berkshire won Celebrity Mastermind on Tuesday night.

Kirsten O’Brien, 52, chose to support two charities, Babies in Buscot Support and Teesside Hospice with the prize money.

She faced off against football commentator Guy Mowbray, actor Tyger Drew-Honey and former MP Justine Greening.

O’Brien chose the specialist subject of the life of Daphne du Maurier for the first round and she scored eight points, along with Mowbray and Drew-Honey, while Greening pulled ahead with nine points.

In the final general knowledge round, O’Brien outshone her competitors, scoring nine points to win the contest. During her mid-morning show on Wednesday, O’Brien said she had kept it a secret since September, only telling her husband and eldest son.

She said: “I had the trophy sitting above my wardrobe and I fibbed to my twins, who are seven. I thought they would tell everybody, so I told them I came third. I thought at least when they’re telling people they’re throwing people off.”

O’Brien said she could appear on the BBC’s The Traitors, adding: “I’ve realised, I think, I’d be quite a good ‘Traitor’ during the course of this because I can do the poker face, and I can fib a little bit.”
