Cash for Schools winner revealed

The Advertiser’s 2016 Cash for Schools scheme has finished with Little Marlow CE School taking top spot and a prize of £2,000 and Dropmore Infant School in Burnham in second place winning £1,500.

The two schools triumphed after taking part in the token collect initiative, funded with a £20,000 grant from the Louis Baylis (Maidenhead Advertiser) Charitable Trust.

A remaining pot of £16,500 is to be divided between the other registered schools that collected a minimum of two Advertiser tokens per pupil.

Executive headteacher of Little Marlow CE School Catherine Carter said: “The school is absolutely thrilled to have won this. We put our success down to a great community of parents, friends and staff who all worked so hard to collect tokens from friends, family and locals.

“This year our PTA has been working hard to raise funds to totally revamp the reception play area. This money means that we have now reached our target.

“Today, we have been in contact with the company and so fingers crossed we can begin the renovation very soon which will be really amazing for the children – so thank you.”

Hazel Watt, headteacher of Dropmore Infant School said: “We are delighted to be runner-up this year. The Friends of Dropmore work hard to sell the Advertiser in school and again this year we’d like to thank Gerald who brought in a substantial amount of vouchers.”

“In their ‘Our Voice’ assemblies the children have been discussing many ideas for activity areas in the field.

“Now we have the Cash for Schools money they can start planning their project.”
