Walkers raise £1,000 for parish hall

A WALK in aid of a village hall raised more than £1,000.

About 30 people took part in the event on Saturday in support of Remenham Parish Hall.

Walkers were ask to give a donation to participate and could choose from two routes, six or two miles.

Both walks started off by the River Thames with the routes proceeding towards Leander Club and then through woods to Remenham Church Lane.

The routes then diverged, either to return to the hall for the shorter walk or via Aston Lane, through the Culham Estate to Aston and back to Remenham.

The ages of those taking part varied from 18 months to over 80 accompanied by numerous dogs. The walk finished at the hall where lunch of homemade soup and bread and cheese was served.

Remenham parish hall is a  a traditional brick and flint building and was given to the parishioners of Remenham by Viscount Hambleden in 1913.
