Extended airspace restrictions will be in place over Windsor during the state visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The President is set to be hosted by King Charles III on December 3, and for security, airspace restrictions will extend through parts of East Berkshire and South Bucks.
Thames Valley Police is working with the Royal Borough, the Royal Household and other key agencies to ensure the event runs safely ‘with minimal disruption.’
On December 3 and 4, restricted airspace will apply to aircraft over and around Windsor, including drones, except for emergency services and other relevant authorities where emergency circumstances apply.
Superintendent Adrian Hall, of TVP’s Joint Operations Unit, said that police drones, alongside support from the Civil Aviation Authority and National Air Traffic Services, will help enforce these restrictions.
“We have resources and tactics ready to deal with breaches,” he said. “Officers will have the power to arrest anyone breaching these restrictions.”
Breaches will be investigated under the Air Navigation Order. Circumstances will be assessed and treated on a case-by-case basis.
In addition, the team is willing to discuss requirements with anyone needing to fly a drone for legitimate reasons.

Superintendent Hall added: “If you see anything suspicious in the air or on the ground, report it online, via 101, or call 999 in an emergency.”
