Henley Standard
June 20, 1924
THE preparations for the regatta are being rapidly pushed forward. Although the flooded state of the river has hindered progress, there is no doubt that everything will be ready when the great river carnival commences on July 2. It is anticipated that the entries will not be quite as numerous as last year but they will suffice to provide four days of good racing.
Members of the Henley Habitation of the Primrose League, the number of about 50, spent an enjoyable afternoon in the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday. The hon and gallant member for the Division, Capt Reginald Terrell, invited them to partake of tea with him on the terrace.
We understand that Mr Ashhurst, chairman of the South Oxfordshire Conservative Association, has received an intimation from Capt Terrell stating that, owing to largely increased business claims upon his time, which will necessitate frequent journeys abroad, and periods of absence from London, he will be unable to accept another nomination for the Henley division at the end of the current parliament.
