A SIXTEEN-year-old from Binfield Heath has returned from a national ballroom and Latin dance competition with six medals and trophies.
Zac Fisher, of Kiln Lane, won awards for dances he performed at the Ballroom and Latin National Association of Teachers of Dance national grand finals in Blackpool last month.
Competing in the 16-34 category, Zac and his dance teacher Anna Dieguez came second in the samba and foxtrot.
Dancing with partner Gabriella Hughes in the 16-21 category, the pair came third in the cha cha and waltz, fourth in the quickstep, and fifth in the rumba.
Zac said: “It was my first time dancing in the 16-34 category. I wasn’t expecting to do that amazingly so I’m very happy.” He said he was supported at the competition by his mother and former ballet dancer Vanessa, his grandmother Mary Haines and her friend. “They were really proud of me,” he added.
Zac competed alongside friends from Reading County Dance School, where he has been dancing since the age of eight.
“It was a lovely weekend, and I loved being with all my friends from the dance school,” he said. “We’re all really good friends.”
Zac, who attends the sixth form at Shiplake College, said dancing is a “good distraction” from schoolwork, adding: “I just love it.”
