Neighbours object to new homes

PLANS for three new homes in Harpsden Way, Henley, have been opposed by town councillors after objections by neighbours.

Developer Richard Barter has applied for planning permission for the four-bedroom properties each with a garage and to create new access on to Peppard Lane.

Neighbours say the development would be overbearing and would lead to the loss of parking spaces in Peppard Lane.

Terry Colley, of Peppard Lane, said: "It seems as though the lower end of the lane would be taken away and I can’t see how that’s fair to the people who live there.

"I don’t have a problem if the access is further up because that’s wasteland and not being used."



Jacqueline Harrison, of Harpsden Way, said one of the houses would reduce the light to her home and that a roof terrace on another house would overlook her bedroom.

Henley Town Council’s planning committee recommended the application is refused due to overlooking and the possible loss of parking.

David Nimmo Smith, who chairs the committee, said: "Nobody is objecting to the principle of development, it’s just what is going there."

A decision will be made by South Oxfordshire District Council later this month.
