THE first match of the year saw Remenham Angling Society visit Whitehouse Lake at Tadley to fish the third leg of the Winter Series.
Heavy rain and high winds made conditions difficult for most of the anglers with some failing to weigh in.
John Hobbs was the comfortable winner on the day as he fished the pole across towards the island and landed carp and bream to weigh in 37lb 8oz. This was well clear of Pete Bowles in second place with 7lb 12oz of roach and skimmers taken on the pole with maggot and in third place was Trevor Pearce with 4lb 8oz of roach and skimmers also taken on the pole with maggot.
Last Sunday Milton Pools was the venue for the fourth leg of the series with House Lake being fished. After an overnight flurry of snow the larger fish in the lake failed to show so smaller silver fish made up the weights on the day.
Ade Bowles triumphed with a mixed net of roach, rudd, skimmers and perch all caught on the pole at 10 metres with maggot weighing in 9lb 12oz narrowly edging out Neil Reid in second place with 9lb 8oz. In third place was Steve Johnson with 8lb 8oz of roach and skimmers. Section winners were John Hobbs with 4lb 12oz and Malcolm Pearce with 7lb.
