ELECTRIC trains should be running in Henley in the next three years.

A passenger watchdog says it expects electrification of the Henley branch line to be completed by Network Rail in December 2018, a year later than originally planned.

The Henley Branch Users Group was responding to the release of a report by Network Rail chairman Sir Peter Hendy on the company’s £38.5 billion works programme.

Michael Porter, a member of the group, said: “The Thames Valley branch lines are set to be electrified by period five of the works in December 2018. My thought is it will be the end of 2018 because they have got so much else to do. Electrific- ation of suburban lines will be later than thought.”
