Win turkey and trimmings from Gabriel Machin

BARRY Wagner is not your ordinary butcher.

As well as owning Gabriel Machin in Henley, he took over the neighbouring Three Tuns pub and restaurant in March this year.

Since then the 700-year-old building has been revamped internally while its kitchen serves all of the best that Gabriel Machin has to offer.

This week, the Henley Standard has once again teamed up with the award-winning butcher so you can get ahead of the competition and win the best part of your Christmas dinner.

Up for grabs is a 5kg turkey together with a range of traditional trimmings, comprising 18 chipolatas, 18 rashers of streaky bacon, a 200g jar of goose fat and a 250g jar of cranberry sauce. This year’s prize has a total value of £140.

Gabriel Machin has been running since the late 19th century and, as well as meat, sells game, fresh fish and cheese.

Mr Wagner has been a butcher since the age of 17 and prides himself on the quality of his sausages, which have won awards.

He ran three shops before coming to work at Machins in 2004, eventually buying it in 2015 when previous owner Ian Blandford retired.

The turkeys and geese come from Starveall Farm in Thame. Gabriel Machin is now taking orders for Christmas. To be in with a chance of winning this year’s prize turkey, simply answer the following question: What is the name of the pub owned by Barry?
