ABOUT 400 people descended on the Baskerville pub in Shiplake on Christmas Eve for the annual village carols.

The event raised more than £700 for the Chiltern Centre for disabled children in Henley. Another £750 was raised with the sale of the pub?s charity Christmas puddings.

Landlord Allan Hannah said: ?Thanks also go to Carol Harvey at the Corner Shop for organising the compere and singers, to Barrie Barlow for organising the music and PA, and to our wonderful staff who readied the pub in under an hour following lunch service and put it all back together again for Christmas Day lunch.?
