KIDMORE End Primary School have been crowned county champions in an athletics competition.

A team of 10 pupils from year five and six came first in the Quad Kids Athletics county finals at Tilsley Park in Abingdon.

It is third time in a row the school has won the competition.

The team was made up of Isabelle Chandler, Emelia Allen, Maisie Cleall, Gabi Stone, Kit Davies, Jemima Smith, James Watts, Oakley Cuthbertson, Hal Rust D’Eye and Warren Gardner.

The year three and four team finished second.

Team captain Gabi Stone, who was part of the winning team last year, lifted the trophy. Headteacher Linda Hull said: “Both our athletics coach Allen Souch and our PE co-ordinator Rachel Dove deserve enormous praise for instilling in the children a sense of teamwork and aspiration to achieve their personal best.

“We are very proud of the children both for their achievements and the way they conducted themselves.”

Simon Stone, Gabi’s father, attended the event on July 8 to support the team.

He said: “Given Kidmore End was the smallest Primary school in the final the dedication, motivation and sheer hard work put in by the kids and the teaching staff Rachael Dove and Alan Souch was quite inspirational.”
