WITH the mildest winter on record, temperatures were one degree above the average in February with only nine frosts in Shiplake.

In March, the mean temperature was 5.7C, just over half a degree warmer than the previous month, with 11 frosts. It reached -7C on one day but was in double figures on Â 16 others.

There was 35mm of rain in February while March had around 70mm in Henley and less in Shiplake.

Gardeners and fellow allotment holders, don’t be led into a false sense of security — we could experience frosts for another six weeks yet.
